Insight Awards Criteria

  • Most Innovative Memory Product

    This award is given to the memory product (semiconductor or memory-based device) that is deemed to be the most innovative against its fellow nominees. This category will be evaluated by:

    • Memory density
    • Advanced packaging
    • Advanced process
    • Innovative architecture

    Most Innovative Device for Mobile Applications

    This award is given to the semiconductor, designed primarily for use in mobile applications, which best exhibits innovative properties based on the following criteria:

    • Level of integration (device dependent – memory density, number of processor cores, number of supported connectivity protocols)
    • Device size (vs. comparable devices)
    • Advanced packaging

    Most Innovative Sensor Technology

    This award is given to the best sensor technology that is deemed technologically innovative by the following standards:

    • Level of integration
    • Sensor sensitivity
    • Sensor speed
    • Advanced process

    Most Innovative Process Technology

    This award is presented to the semiconductor whose merit in process manufacturing is deemed innovative by the following criteria:

    • Transistor architecture
    • Density (device dependent – memory density, logic/transistor density, etc)
    • Advanced materials

    Most Innovative Medical Device

    One of the new categories for the 10th edition of the Insight Awards, the Most Innovative Medical Device Award recognizes the product that best represents innovation in the medical electronics market. This award is evaluated by the following criteria:

    • Wireless connectivity options & performance
    • Ease of patient use
    • Innovative architecture
    • Level of integration
    • Sensor & Therapy technology

    Most Innovative Company

    This award recognizes the achievements of the company or organization that best assertion and/or protection of their intellectual property assets throughout the course of 2011. Judged by experts in patent management and protection, this award is presented based on the following criteria:

    • Technical Strength
    • Claim Strength
    • Ability to Detect
    • Commercial Impact
    • Related Art
    • Impact to Global Region or Industry

    2011 Mobile Product of the Year

    This award is presented to the product (semiconductor or full-scale device) that is determined as the most innovative mobile product of 2011 by the following standards:

    • Innovative architecture
    • Advanced display technology
    • Breadth of supported connectivity (e.g. xCDMA, GSM, GPS, WiFI, BT, LTE, NFC…)
    • Overcoming traditional product boundaries (e.g. iPad)

    2011 Semiconductor of the Year

    This award is presented to the semiconductor that is determined to be the most innovative and technologically elegant component of 2011. This device will be selected amongst all semiconductor nominees in other categories and this award will be presented primarily on what TechInsights’ judges deem to be the component that had the largest impact on the entire semiconductor industry.
