The IM Flash Technologies (IMFT) joint venture between Intel and Micron, has released their first device, and it is a solution that is very competitive in the market. While the devices are packaged with Micron markings, the die photo clearly identifies that both Intel and Micron worked together on the device. There is also an Intel packaged version of the same device. The SLC NAND Flash surpasses all other vendors’ offerings as the first device to meet 50nm lithography. When compared to other 4Gb NAND Flash devices, the IM Flash solution has a die size more than 30% smaller than Samsung’s 65nm SLC solution, which had previously been the most advanced device available in the market.
