Elpida EDE1116ACSE

The 70nm generation from Elpida has pushed them into the process lithography lead of devices analyzed by Semiconductor Insights. Smaller process geometries help to reduce power consumption in the chip enabling less heat produced, lower cooling costs, and quieter system operation. Interestingly, the 1Gb and 512Mb DDR2 SDRAM solutions from Elpida have very different layout designs. In the 512Mb device, the circuitry runs horizontally along the die. The 1Gb device uses a central circuitry innovation. This is the first time that Semiconductor Insights has seen this type of design layout before.
