2010 China Handset Research Initiative: Interim Report

The Chinese mobile phone market is the largest in the world. According to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) from an article by TMT China, there were 776.8 million mobile subscribers as of the end of March 2010. To put this into perspective—there are over three times the number of Chinese mobile subscribers than US mobile subscribers. At 234 million, the United States has the next largest mobile subscriber base in the world.
